Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my head for a helmet?
Wrap a soft tape about 2 cm above your eyebrows, over the widest point at the back of the head. Measure two or three times and take the largest value. Head SHAPE matters too — the same 58 cm can be round or oval; if a helmet pressures your forehead but is loose at the sides, try another model rather than another size.
I am between two helmet sizes — which one?
Start with the smaller one: helmet padding compresses 10-15% within the first weeks, so a snug new helmet becomes comfortable while a comfortable new helmet becomes loose. A correctly sized helmet should grip your cheeks firmly and not rotate when you shake your head.
What is ECE 22.06 and why does it matter?
It is the current European helmet safety standard, replacing 22.05 with tougher impact tests including rotational ones. In Türkiye, helmets sold should carry ECE certification — check for the label stitched to the strap. An expensive uncertified helmet protects worse than an affordable certified one.
Should I buy a second-hand helmet?
No. A helmet absorbs impact by crushing its EPS foam — invisibly. A dropped or crashed helmet may look perfect and protect much worse, and you can never verify its history. Helmets are also recommended to be replaced about every 5 years as the foam ages.
Why does my usual clothing size not match motorcycle gear?
Motorcycle jackets and pants fit closer than daily clothing so armor stays in place during a slide, and cuts differ by origin — European cuts run slimmer, some others roomier. That is why we ask for body measurements instead of your usual size, and why the manufacturer's own chart is always the final word.
How tight should motorcycle gloves be?
Snug everywhere with no pressure points: fingertips should almost touch the ends, and leather will stretch slightly with use. Too-loose gloves fold in your palm and interfere with the levers — a genuine safety issue, not just comfort.
Do motorcycle boots size like normal shoes?
Mostly yes, but ride with the socks you actually wear and remember stiff boots do not stretch like sneakers. If you are between sizes or wear thick touring socks, go half a size up — and check that the shifter pad sits right when the boot is on.
